Y Farmers

Nestled in the picturesque village of Llanfihangel-y-Creuddyn, near Aberystwyth, Y Ffarmers is a historic freehold pub that dates back to the 17th Century. Owned by Caitlin and Lewis since 2017, the pub is a testament to their dedication and passion for creating a welcoming space for the community to come together.

Located about a 20-minute drive from Aberystwyth, Y Ffarmers is well worth the journey. Caitlin, originally from Llanfihangel, had worked in the pub for several years before teaming up with her friend Lewis, an experienced pub manager and talented chef, to take over the business. Their partnership brings together a wealth of skills, from Caitlin's love of people and cultures to Lewis's expertise in running a food business and creating visually stunning dishes.

Despite suffering a major fire in 2018, which caused extensive damage, Caitlin and Lewis persevered in rebuilding the pub to its former glory. Today, Y Ffarmers stands as a testament to their commitment to preserving this important community hub.

The pub's menu reflects the owners' strong belief in supporting local producers, featuring delicious dishes made from locally-sourced ingredients. The waiting team, most of whom grew up in the village, are always happy to share the history of the area or offer advice on local attractions.

In addition to running Y Ffarmers, Caitlin and Lewis also operate a mobile bar called The Crafty Mare, which can be found at weddings, parties, festivals, and special events. This venture, initially set up during the rebuild of Y Ffarmers, is available as a converted Rice horsebox or a pop-up bar. To learn more about The Crafty Mare, visit its Facebook page or get in touch with Caitlin and Lewis at Y Ffarmers.
